Why Do Brits Love the Canaries?

There are many great holiday destinations in Europe and beyond. They wouldn’t keep attracting visitors in the numbers that they do if they didn’t have something going for them. But when you live in a country like Britain or any other country not known for its warm climate, there will be certain destinations which appeal more than others. The Canary Islands is one such destination. Just the idea of lying on the beach with the tropical effect all around us as are the crystal clear waters and light blue skies can get us excited. No wonder we crave for a holiday as soon as our last one ended. But what is it about the Canaries that makes it stand out about other holiday destinations?

Many holiday destinations claim that they have something for everyone but rather than purely a glib statement, it is perhaps truer of the Canary Islands than of any other destination. It offers as much to the active holidaymaker as to those who would simply prefer to while the hours with the sand between their toes and the glare of the sun providing the perfect tan. Water-sports are prevalent with scuba diving among the many fun activities taking place along the beach. The night-life too, certainly true of Tenerife, features some of the best venues in Europe, whether going out for a meal at a restaurant serving up an either Spanish or British meal or to dance the hours away at one of one of the many diverse bars or clubs.

The beaches have earned their reputation for being virtually flawless, providing many fun and relaxing hours alike with Fuerteventura Island topping the list of beaches on the island. It is particularly popular for certain activities, namely windsurfing and kite flying.

Many visit the islands to escape the stresses from work and personal problems so would prefer to spend their time in a secluded environment. There are areas of the Caribbean which are geared towards that kind of holiday such as Lanzarote’s Plaza Chica.

The Canary Islands will continue to be popular all year round as it is constantly summer, at least compared to a typical day in Britain. There may be other reasons why holiday makers visit the Canaries such as for the water sports or the night-life in Tenerife but the weather will always the force that attracts so many year in, year out.
