Holidays in Italy have been popular through the ages, though it is surprising to learn that few of these are taken in the beach resorts. Indeed, it is somewhat of a hidden paradise for Italians themselves, as many visitors content themselves with visiting the cities.
A beach resort which has been popular for sometime however is on the island of Sardinia. Quite possibly the best beaches within the whole of Europe are here, and with the Mediterranean gently lapping its shores alongside the wonderful resorts that line the coast, it is still relatively quiet.
Another popular destination, though not for its beaches, is Tuscany. However, set in the breathtaking region of Monte Argentario lie some amazing beaches which just beckon visitors to relax.
There are some exceptional private villas available for hire in this region, and though the ocean waters are always inviting, access to a private pool is always good. Throughout Italy, other top beach destinations include those around Gallipoli, whilst the Sicilian coastal town of Syracuse is increasing in popularity.
There is so much more to Sicily however, and not far off the coast are the Egadi Islands. The seafood here is unsurprisingly superb; given the clarity and rich blue-green of the waters on its shore.
For those looking for the full beach experience, there is little that can compare with the resorts of Viareggio and Rimini on the west and east coasts respectively. The former is full of opulence and decadence, whilst the latter is a heady mix of culture and partying.
Holidays in Italy are always going to be a draw; such is the beauty and appeal of the culture, the people and the food. That all this can be enjoyed set amongst stunning beach locations makes it all the better.
Where does one start to start when discussing Italia. Well, if you intend to travel there, Rome and Venice are good locations to start.
Perhaps you’ve heard about it? It goes without saying that The capital has a rather prominent previous. Lets see, in Rome you will find…[deep breath]…the Vatican, Coliseum, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Church of St Agnese, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps plus a guy name Allassandro. Just making sure you’re paying attention. Indeed, Rome is dirty with historically significant attractions. It seems you can’t turn around with out bumping into something an Emperor constructed, captured or destroyed. For anyone willing to risk potential fury, there are also the new Divinci Code tours, which take you to the places found in the book.
In all severe, Rome is a city you need to visit at least once in your life. Absolutely no article could ever do it justice, so I’ll just stop here.
I fondly make reference to Venice as the floating city though it may be apparently sinking. If you’ve noticed Venice is movies or tvs shows, the depictions are correct. Piazza San Marco looks exactly the same, birds and many types of. The Grande Canal will be, well, a grand canal together with incredible houses lining that and boats putting up lower this water way. Built on mudflats in a lagoon, the city doesn’t really have much room to grow. It really seems paralyzed in time.
When you’ve conquered the tourist attractions, it will likely be time to get serious about Venice. The simplest way to do this is stand in top of your hotel or hostel, pick which direction the tourist attractions lie and start walking in the other way. While you may feel like you’re generating the wrong way on a freeway for some minutes, you’ll eventually start getting directly into real Venice.
An entirely different side of Venice will appear and you’ll adore it. You’ll find little cafes along with locals happy to talk to you [and non-tourist prices]. In fact, the Venetians will often hold you in high regard since you’re a visitor who is bypassing the visitor areas. This, of course, may logically lead to a whirl associated with introductions to this nephew, that child of a brother and so on. Next thing you know, you’ll be complaining regarding Italian politicians and how things used to be better in the past.
While Rome and Venice are excellent travel destinations, you can’t really go wrong in Italy. For the adventurous, arranged your itinerary with the aged map on a wall and also dart technique
