Flying – Cause For Concern?

There are a couple fears in life that defy what seems logical. The fear of snakes may be one, fear of elevators is another, and even a fear of flying is another. Every single day, hundreds of thousands of aircraft take off and land around the globe, carrying millions and millions of people safely to their end destination. Flying is really one of the safest, if not the most safe, way of travel out there. It is much safer than getting in the automobile, yet over 1/3 of the people still have a fear of flying.

Quite a few people cite various concerns when speaking of their flying fear. Of those, many state a lack of confidence in the navigational systems or even a fear that a routine error on the surface can cause a disaster in the air. Then there are fears of problems with the airplane itself. Quite a few people saw the pictures of the impressive concord crash several years ago and when you’re about to get on an aircraft, just a few feet from the roaring jet engines humming steadily, it seems very difficult to believe that not one single thing could go wrong with such a aircraft or man made engine. Sometimes the very appearance and shape of the airplane does very little to inspire confidence in people who are already having doubts and fears about the ability of the plane.

Then there are the reports of people obtaining deep vein thrombosis.

The fact of the matter however, is that flying is extremely safe. It is one of the wonders of technology that air travel, with all the multitude of potential failures, keep delivering flight after flight, on time and without a hitch. In fact, in contrast to almost all other forms of travel, air travel is becoming safer and safer every year.

The statistics speak for themselves. Do you know what the chances are of having a single fatality on a flight? Well according to the BBC, it is 1 in 16 million. And in the vast majority of accidents where there are fatalities, more than half of the other passengers survive. What this means is that even if you defy all the odds and are on one of the few unlucky flights that does crash, you are still more likely to survive than die in the accident.

However, there is one issue with air travel that the statistics don’t commend so highly. Delays, lost luggage and missing flights are still frequent issues that plague passengers. Luckily, all of these can be covered for with some good, comprehensive travel insurance.

    Choosing The Best Flying Course

    Many of us imagine becoming a pilot when we are little kids. But a very lucky group of us decide to follow that passion as we grow up. If you desire to become a pilot and fly commercial planes, then there are several things that you need to consider. First you need to recognize that you will have to take a flying course, and your will power to study the material will have a big impact on obtaining your license.

    No matter if you want to become a commercial plane pilot or a private aircraft pilot, you need to know that you will need to spend a fair amount of time into your flying course training and study materials. This is time you will spend before you even take off into the air or see a full sized flight simulator. Just remember that as you take your flying course you’ll need to have dedicated and follow the curriculum the entire time.

    The life of a private pilot is very different than your typical commercial pilot. Most private pilots do not travel all over the world and usually flying charted aircraft and fly locally or regionally. There are also a few special folks that land a career with a business that owns their own planes. In this case you’d be flying all over the place as your take your clients from location to location.

    In your private pilot flying course you will also need to decide what type of plane you’d like to fly – the large private jets or smaller recreational craft. There are a lot of business people out there who are in need of helicopter pilots – so this may be a route to look at when getting your wings. The one thing that you will need to keep in mind is that you do not want to speed up your training too fast because cutting corners just isn’t safe.

    Before you begin your training you will need to find a quality school with a flying course that teaches you everything you need to learn. There are schools all around the country, but you need to locate the one that you are going to want to attend. What could be worse than attending your flying course but you dislike the teacher and teaching style.

    If you are going to take a home study flying course, you will need to make sure that you take your time and learn everything that is presented to you. You will have lives in your hands when you flying, so be extra careful to take flying of the plane seriously in your private pilot training.

    How To Become A Pilot

    Have you wondered about the idea of becoming a pilot? You’ll find a entire array of organizations that offer the instructions to qualify anybody become a pilot. Pilots are highly trained experts who either fly airplanes or helicopters to carry out a wide range of jobs. With the exception of small aircraft, two pilots generally comprise the cockpit team.

    With autopilot supporting them, the plane travels a pre-defined path and is monitored by air traffic control as it passes through monitoring zones.

    Even though flying doesn’t include a whole lot physical work, the mental stress of being accountable for any risk-free flight, regardless of the weather, can be exhausting. Pilots must be alert and fast to react if there is an emergency, especially within the course of takeoff and landing. Also remember that to get to the flight, you’ll be walking through airports which can be tiring to deal with.

    To be a pilot you must have an airline transport pilots license. To apply you should be at least 23 and have at least 1500 hours of flight time.
