When people consider their vacation destinations, quite often they decide to seek that extra spark of adventure. Mongolian tours fit into that category admirably, and they will not disappoint these people. Anyone who has an adventurous spirit should consider such a trip at least once in his or her lifetime.

For the average person, little is known about Mongolia, apart from a general geographic location. It is among the highest countries above sea level. The scenery is diverse, from the Gobi Desert to the majestic mountain ranges, the wild untamed grasslands and vast lakes. This is the land of the mighty Genghis Khan.

Many Mongolians still follow a nomadic lifestyle, in much the same way as their ancestors would have done. One thing on the must do list for the tourist is to spend at least one night in a yurt, or ger. Throughout time these traditional Mongolian gers have hardly changed at all.

The Mongolian gers are always set out in the same fashion. To the south, you will always find the main entrance. Once inside the ger you will see the typical family altar, adorned with family photos and Buddhist images. The rear of the ger is reserved for guests, and is deemed a place of great honor.

The weather can be extreme, with high heat in the summer and freezing temperatures in the winter. Before planning your trip, it is advisable to check out the normal weather patterns. As a helpful guide, the ideal time to plan your visit is often between May and September.

There are a myriad of tours on offer, and there is always something for everyone, no matter their ability or taste. For the modernists, there are road trips by Jeep. For the traditionalists, there are trips by horse or camel. For the more energetic tourist there are opportunities to trek by foot, or to canoe across the crystal waters of lakes.

You impose the only limitation, concerning the length of your trip. For some, their trip to Mongolia is but a small part of a much larger trip. However, these people often wish that their fleeting Mongolian experience had lasted longer.

The capital, Ulaanbaatar, is the starting point for most of the tours. There are direct international flights available from Moscow, Beijing, Seoul and Berlin. Instead of flying, many opt for a trip on the Trans-Siberian Express. Once you reach Mongolia, you will always be welcomed warmly.

One thing is for certain. You will never forget your vacation to Mongolia. This is only fitting, as you have worked long and hard and deserve the lasting memories that the experiences from a trip like this will provide.

If you are looking for a different vacation, look at the various Mongolian tours on offer. This is a diverse land rich in culture and history. Tread in the footsteps of Genghis Khan and experience an awesome vacation. One that will happily haunt your dreams, for the rest of your days.
