Bermuda – Not Merely Another Regular Beach Vacation

by on Aug.01, 2011, under Travel

Made up of a total of 138 islands and islets, Bermuda is a British colony fabled for its beauty. As a very popular tropical beach destination, Bermuda is among tourists’ favorite spots. Although the beaches are one of the things that attracts visitors from all over, the interesting history and island atmosphere are attractive as well. Before you can travel to Bermuda, you will need a passport book or passport card.

One of the best things about traveling to Bermuda is being able to use a passport card in lieu of a passport book. A passport card can be used for all travel to Bermuda, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Canada. However, passport cards are only acceptable if one travels by boat or car; all air travel requires a passport book. Going online is the best place to get either the book or the card, as well as a plethora of other services, like expedited lost U.S. passport replacements, passports for children, and more.

One spot every visitor to Bermuda absolutely has to visit is the Town of St. George. This spot is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, and has earned it thanks to its being the oldest continuously inhabited British colony in the New World, having been founded in 1612. Visitors love this spot because of the colonial architecture among the winding streets of cobblestone, the beautiful and relaxing parks, and the famous landmarks, such as King’s Square, the original public square of the colony, lots of beautiful churches, museums, old houses, and the Town Hall.

A large part of anyone’s trip to Bermuda involves the water. Activities like scuba diving and snorkeling, swimming, boating, and fishing are top notch here, and there certainly is no shortage of places to do them. Horseshoe Beach, easily the most popular beach in Bermuda, is one of them. Famous for it’s signature powdery pink sand, water that’s as clear as glass, beautiful coves and caves, and the paradise atmosphere, it’s an absolutely stunning location. For exploring the deeper water, there are plenty of dive and snorkeling companies. They can take you to explore shipwrecks, vibrant coral reefs, and more.

Bermuda is not only spectacularly beautiful, but it’s very fascinating, thanks to its long historical record. There are around a hundred forts on the chain of islands, each with its history. There are also plenty of museums to check out, with one of the best being the Bermuda Aquarium, Natural History Museum, and Zoo. In this all-in-one museum, you’ll find the first living coral reef exhibit in the world: a 140,000 gallon tank full of a living replicated coral reef environment. The museum also features over 200 species of fish, as well as turtles, seals, lots of birds, and more.

Don’t forget your passport card application or book if you decide to go. If you can’t find your passport, an expedited lost American passport replacement is just a click away.

    Strategies For Renewing A Passport

by on Jul.12, 2011, under Travel

The easiest method to use in renewing US online passport will be to do the procedures via the mail. For this to happen, you must be a current holder of one and it has to be in decent enough condition to be clearly readable. Said document has to have been issued within the last 15 years and you need to be at least 16. Finally, you still have to have the same name or you will have to include documents showing it has been changed legally.

When the above stipulations cannot be met, you must make a personal appearance to renew after a stolen passports. The mail-in method hinges around a document called Form DS-82. It is available online. You can even submit the thing online. There is also the option of downloading and printing it out. It will then be mailed in along with other necessary materials.

It is currently taking two to three weeks to process the request. Failure to provide information such as a social security number will significantly add to the time necessary for processing. If the Form DS-82 has not been submitted online, it should be placed into a padded mailer along with the rest of the required materials.

You will have to have a photo stapled in the stated space of the application. If your name has changed because of marriage, a certificate saying so will have to be included. There are ways to make things move more quickly. You can get expedited service by including a $60 money order or check to the U. S. Department of State. Mark the envelope that you mail with the notation “Expedite”. Arrange for overnight delivery to save additional time.

The State Department, which oversees this, suggests that a traceable delivery system be used in connection with your submission. The post office charges a small fee for this. So do other firms that handle this sort of delivery option. The essential documents should be contained within a Tyvek or other sort of strengthened envelope.

To accomplish all this, you have to have an address within the United States for the document to be mailed to. It will not be sent to a foreign country. If a United States citizen is currently living in a foreign country, he or she should apply through the embassy. When that residency is Canada, the DS-82 form can still be mailed in.

In the event you do not meet all these requirements or if you need this to happen on a more immediate basis, you can set up an appointment with the Regional Passport Agency. This should only be done if you have to have this in less than two weeks for international travel. It should also be sought if you will have need of obtaining a foreign visa within the next four weeks.

Online submission has helped simplify the process of renewing US online passport. Key portions can be conducted this way and the rest can go through the mail after a stolen online passport.
